What is the ruling on the ICSI procedure for conceiving males for those who have been blessed with daughters? Is it considered among the legitimate means? And is it advisable to continue with the procedure to reach a certain number of eggs for genetic testing, or to stop and resort to natural pregnancy?

The need for procreation is more pressing than the desire for a specific gender of the child. Therefore, IVF (In Vitro Fertilization) is permissible due to the urgent need for procreation, not for determining the gender of the fetus. Moreover, IVF involves the exposure of the major 'awrah (private parts), which is not permissible except in cases of extreme necessity or dire need.

Indeed, Al-'Izz ibn 'Abd al-Salam warned that covering the 'awrah is obligatory, and its exposure is not permissible except for necessities and needs. Furthermore, the necessity for looking at the private parts must be more severe than for looking at other body parts.

Accordingly, we do not deem permissible the procedure of artificial insemination and fetal sex determination for someone who is capable of procreating through natural means. We advise the questioner not to proceed with this procedure, especially since she has already been blessed with three daughters. She should be content with Allah's decree and ask Allah for His bounty.
