What is meant by the ruling of interdicting a father, what are its legitimate reasons, and is the consent of the heirs a condition?

Legal interdiction (hajr shar'i) is the prohibition of a person from disposing of their own wealth. Its causes include childhood, insanity, extravagance, slavery, bankruptcy, and illness. Some have added marriage (for the wife) and apostasy. The consent of the heirs is not required for interdicting the father. If the interdiction is due to foolishness (safah) or bankruptcy, it requires a judge's ruling. If it is due to insanity, unconsciousness, or a life-threatening illness, it does not require a judge's ruling.
