Is it permissible, Islamically, to place a legal interdiction on the father's assets if he is squandering his property, and there is a fear that he will not secure his children's future or provide them with housing? And what is the solution if interdiction is not permissible?

This father should be advised to quit smoking due to its prohibition and harm, and that it is better for him to leave his heirs wealthy. He should also be reminded that he is not permitted to neglect his family and dependents, for the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "It is sufficient sin for a person to neglect those whom he supports." It should be explained to him that spending on his children is better than giving money to his sisters, citing the hadith of Abu Hurayrah: "Give charity to yourself... to your child... to your servant." As for the matter of interdicting him, it requires a judge's ruling. It is not permissible for the children to request his interdiction unless he is foolish or insane; otherwise, it would be considered disobedience and injustice.
