Is it a condition to face the chicken towards the Qibla when slaughtering it?

The Sunnah in slaughtering is to direct the animal towards the Qiblah, but it is not obligatory. So, if one slaughters it facing another direction, the slaughtered animal is lawful, but the person would be abandoning the Sunnah. It has been narrated that the Prophet (peace be upon him) directed his two rams towards the Qiblah when slaughtering them. It is recommended for both the slaughterer and the animal to face the Qiblah because it is the most honorable direction, and facing it is recommended in acts of worship. For one who slaughters not facing the Qiblah, their slaughter is valid and sufficient, but they have acted contrary to the Sunnah.
