What is the ruling on slaughtering a chicken while it is standing, and will its wings break if it is laid on its side, causing blood to pool in them and turn them blue?

It is recommended that a specific method be used for slaughtering animals (other than camels): that the animal be laid on its left side, facing the Qibla.
