Who was it that mocked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) despite fearing him, and said: "Muhammad claims that the soldiers of God who will torment you in Hell are nineteen. So, can a hundred men from among you not overcome one of them?"

Al-Qurtubi mentioned in his Tafsir that Ibn Abbas, Qatadah, and Al-Dahhak said that Abu Jahl told Quraysh when the verse was revealed: "Over it are nineteen [angels]": "Listen to the son of Abu Kabshah telling you that the guardians of Hell are nineteen, and you are the strong and brave, yet ten of you would be unable to overpower one of them." Al-Qurtubi also narrated from Al-Suddi that Abu Al-Ashadd Usayd ibn Kaladah Al-Jumahi said, mockingly: "Do not be intimidated by the nineteen; I will repel ten of the angels with my right shoulder and the other nine with my left shoulder, then you can proceed to Paradise." In another narration, Al-Harith ibn Kaladah said: "I will take care of seventeen for you, and you take care of the other two for me."
