What should a person do if he swore not to turn on the TV to a specific program, but then his family turned it on, or the time of the program coincided with his presence at home and he heard the sound of the program?

If the intention behind the oath was not to turn on the television to watch a specific program, then merely watching or listening to the program does not break the oath, and the oath remains valid. However, if the intention was comprehensive, meaning that the television should not be turned on, nor the program watched or listened to, then doing so would break the oath and necessitate expiation. It is important to note the prohibition of watching or listening to programs that contradict Islamic law.
