Would my oath regarding not watching a certain entertainment program be broken if I watched it, knowing that I swore to that because of my mother's insistence?

If you swear not to watch a program, intending never to watch it, then you break your oath by watching it at any time, and an expiation for breaking an oath becomes incumbent upon you. However, if you intend not to watch it for a specific period, such as during the study period, you do not break your oath by watching it outside this period. The reference point in oaths is the intention of the one who swears, and if there is no intention, then the reference point is the reason for the oath. Swearing an oath on such a matter is permissible and not forbidden.
