Is it permissible for my wife to abort in her second month (45 days) due to her suffering from a permanent disability in her right hand and a partial disability in her right foot, and for fear of the hardships of pregnancy on her, or of insufficient care for the baby, or disfigurement due to medications?

Abortion is forbidden in Islamic law because it is an assault on life. The mother's illness mentioned is not a permissible excuse for it, unless trusted doctors determine that the pregnancy poses a definite or probable danger to the mother's life. In such a case, abortion is permissible. Fetal deformity or illness does not justify abortion, unless it dies in its mother's womb. Patience with God's decree and gratitude to Him may safeguard the parents from what they fear, and the newborn may be righteous and healthy. If born deformed, it may be a blessing and mercy and a means of expiating sins and elevating ranks.
