If a person's entire wealth is unlawful (haram), then it is not permissible to engage in financial transactions with him regarding his wealth. If some of his wealth is lawful, then engaging in financial transactions with him is disliked (makruh). It is not forbidden to eat from his wealth unless it is from the exact unlawful (haram) money itself.
