Question about ablution from a person new to Islam: Is it necessary to use soap during ablution when washing body parts, and is ablution invalidated by changing a child's diaper?

Praise be to Allah, and may peace and blessings be upon His Messenger. We congratulate the questioner and ask Allah to grant them steadfastness in faith. It is not necessary to use soap when performing wudu (ablution), as the term "washing" does not imply the use of soap or any other cleansing agent. Using soap during wudu is considered an unnecessary exaggeration and an innovation, except in cases where there is stubborn dirt that cannot be removed otherwise.

Additionally, changing a child's diaper does not invalidate wudu, whether it involves simply replacing the diaper or coming into contact with najasa (impurity). Touching najasa does not affect the validity of wudu; the only requirement is to wash the hands from any impurities that may have adhered to them. Furthermore, a child under the age of two does not have an assigned ruling regarding their private parts, so touching them does not affect wudu.
