Is money earned from helping students with their school research at an internet cafe, which may extend to doing their homework for them, considered ill-gotten gain and forbidden (haram)?

It is permissible to assist students in matters outside their assessment, such as helping them operate a device and its applications, or guiding them to scientific resource websites and their translations, provided that research and translation are not part of the assessment.

However, preparing ready-made answers and research for them is not permissible, because it is aiding in cheating, in accordance with the Almighty's saying: "And cooperate in righteousness and piety, but do not cooperate in sin and aggression." The money earned from this is unlawful and must be spent on public welfare or charitable causes, unless one was ignorant of its unlawfulness, in which case some scholars permit benefiting from it.
