Linguistically, magic (sihr) refers to something subtle and intricate in its acquisition, or a deception. Juridically, it is a knot, incantation, words, or action that affects the mind or body of the bewitched, or that which is obtained by drawing near to Satan. Games that astonish viewers without seeking the help of jinn are not considered magic in the legal sense. As for the act of producing animals: if it is by concealing them, it is a trick; if it is by dealing with jinn, it is magic or sorcery, and it is forbidden to perform it or watch it.
