The answer

The rights of the Messenger, peace and blessings be upon him, upon us are embodied in obeying him in what he commanded, refraining from what he forbade, believing him in what he conveyed, embodying his character, emulating him, spreading and defending his Sunnah, and loving him more than oneself, one's wealth, one's children, and all other people, and loving his household and his noble companions, for Allah Almighty says: "So those who believe in him, honor him, support him, and follow the light which was sent down with him - it is those who will be the successful."

Allah Almighty has linked His obedience to the obedience of His Messenger, and has made following him a cause for His love, the forgiveness of sins, and entry into Paradise. Whoever disobeys him has refused to enter it. And whoever violates his command may be afflicted with a trial or a painful punishment.

As for loving him, peace and blessings be upon him, it is among the best acts of drawing closer to Allah. Whoever loves him more than his children, his parents, and all people will find the sweetness of faith. As for supporting him, it is an obligation upon every Muslim, and it means believing in his message, obeying him, supporting him alive and dead, reviving his Sunnah, spreading his دعوت (call/mission), and defending it.
