What is the wisdom behind forbidding the building of domes inside homes?

Allah Almighty commanded His servants to be moderate and purposeful in all their affairs, and forbade them from extravagance and wastefulness. He said: (And eat and drink, but be not excessive. Indeed, He likes not those who commit excess) [Al-A'raf:31], and (And do not spend wastefully. Indeed, those who spend wastefully are brothers of the devils) [Al-Isra:26-27]. Among the forbidden extravagances is extravagance in building and boasting about it without need, due to the waste of money and the heart's attachment to worldly life that it entails. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, warned against it by saying: "Indeed, every building is a burden upon its owner, except for what is indispensable, except for what is indispensable." He meant: what is necessary. And he said: "Indeed, a servant is rewarded for all his expenditures except for dust - or he said: building." Thus, a Muslim is moderate in all his affairs.
