Jews played a role in its inception, and the Book of Mormon resembles the Talmud. Scholars have differed regarding the meaning of "People of the Book": The Hanafis believe they are anyone who believes in a prophet and a book, while the majority of jurists confined them to Jews and Christians. The Mormons fall under the category of "People of the Book" as long as they believe in Jesus (peace be upon him). It should be noted that Jews and Christians are known disbelievers.
