Is it necessary to stop at affirming and negating the limb (jāriḥah) for Allah, and why did Al-Tabari say: "And He has two hands, a right hand, and fingers, and it is not a limb (jāriḥah)"? And is Ibn Baz's comment: "There is no need for what the author - may Allah have mercy on him - mentioned about negating limbs (jawāriḥ) and baring teeth, as no texts have been narrated concerning it; rather, they are silent about it," considered a condemnation of him?

Neither the Qur’an nor the Sunnah has named the hand of Allah Almighty as a limb. What is obligatory is to adhere to what has been established in revelation and to avoid delving into and over-analyzing the matter. Some scholars have used this term, intending thereby that it is not like the attributes of created beings. They were perhaps compelled to do so in refutation of those who deny the attributes. Sheikh Ibn Baz’s statement regarding the aforementioned term was a condemnation of its usage, and not a condemnation of its speaker, Ibn Jarir al-Tabari.
