The answer

It is recommended to seek reconciliation first, as Allah Almighty says: (And reconciliation is best). If divorce occurs after a valid seclusion (khalwa sahiha), the divorced woman is entitled to the full mahr, including the deferred part, even if it was not written, unless there was disobedience (nushuz) on her part. Divorce is permissible in exchange for an agreed-upon compensation, and it is forbidden for the husband to take compensation if he is the one who caused harm. In case of a dispute regarding the unwritten deferred mahr, the matter can be referred to the Sharia court. It is forbidden for a woman to seek khul' (divorce at her initiation) without a legitimate reason, and among the legitimate reasons is the harm inflicted upon her.
