If gelatin is extracted from an animal that has been slaughtered according to Islamic law (dhakah shar'iyyah) and whose meat is permissible to eat (such as cattle and sheep), then it is permissible to consume. However, if it is extracted from an animal that has not been slaughtered according to Islamic law, or from a dead animal (carrion), or from a pig, then it is not permissible to consume.
