What is the ruling on a neighbor bewitching a family using personal clothes, and what should one do if they feel a change in their life, an increase in problems, and a standstill due to this sorcery?

The effects of magic (sihr) and demonic possession (mass) are real, but problems should not be attributed solely to them. Rather, one must be diligent in obeying Allah and avoiding His disobedience, for a good life is for the believers, while a constricted life is for those who turn away from the remembrance of Allah. One must take the necessary means, strive, and be patient, and address family problems with calm dialogue and good manners. There is no objection to consulting a trustworthy raqi (exorcist) while also reciting Surat Al-Baqarah. As for the hadith (definition) about the seventy thousand, they are not necessarily the best of people, and they attained their honor due to the perfection of their monotheism (tawhid (definition)) and reliance upon Allah (tawakkul (definition)), not merely by refraining from seeking ruqyah (definition). Seeking lawful ruqyah is neither forbidden nor disliked, and it does not, according to some scholars, exclude one from being among the seventy thousand. Therefore, it is wise to seek ruqyah when needed and to strive in obedience to Allah.
