Is a wife's going to her family's home—after her husband demands her full salary or that she quit her job, and he refuses to let her return—considered a mistake on her part, and what is the ruling on the husband's action?

A woman is not permitted to go out for work or other purposes without her husband's permission—unless there is a necessity—unless she stipulated that at the time of marriage. If she does so, she is disobedient (nashiz) and loses her right to financial support (nafaqah).

The husband has no right to his wife's money except with her willing consent. However, he may stipulate taking her salary or part of it in exchange for permitting her to work.

A wife's departure due to an unsuitable dwelling does not make her disobedient (nashiz), and the husband must provide a separate and suitable dwelling.

If the wife returns to her husband, he is not entitled to prevent her from returning and keep her in a state of suspension; rather, he must treat her kindly or divorce her. The husband must be good to his family and dutiful to his parents without wronging his wife.
