What is the ruling on a Muslim who eats pork while knowing of its prohibition?

Whoever intentionally, willingly, and knowingly eats pork, knowing its prohibition, is a sinful Muslim disobedient to Allah, and repentance is obligatory upon him. Pork is prohibited by the texts of the Qur’an and Sunnah, and Allah has described it as rijs (filth/impure). Ibn Hajar al-Haytami mentioned that the reason for its prohibition is its impurity and its blameworthy characteristics that may transfer to the one who eats it, such as greed and lack of gheerah (protective jealousy). It is obligatory upon whoever has eaten pork to repent to Allah.
