Is the wife considered to have been divorced with a first repudiation if the husband uttered the divorce then took her back within less than a quarter of an hour without her knowledge, while he resides in one country and she in another?

Reconciliation ( رجعة ) is a right of the husband according to the clear text of the Holy Quran, and it does not require the wife's knowledge or consent. Therefore, the aforementioned reconciliation is valid, and the wife is considered to be under her husband's marital authority. It is Islamically forbidden for a woman to seek divorce without a legitimate reason. If she insists on it, she is considered disobedient ( nashiz ), and the husband has the right to discipline her. If she insists on divorce without any harm from him, he may refuse to divorce her until she gives him compensation. Efforts should be made to preserve the marriage, especially with the presence of children, to achieve family stability and to raise righteous offspring.
