Was Prophet Adam (peace be upon him) truly created with dark skin?

There is no explicit statement from scholars indicating that Prophet Adam (peace be upon him) was created with the deep black skin tone known today. Rather, he was named “Adam” because he was created from the surface of the earth (adīm al-arḍ), or because he had a brownish complexion (ādam al-lawn). Some scholars mentioned he was created from various elements and honored with soul, intellect, and understanding.

The term “ādam” in Arabic refers to someone with a dark or brown complexion, and it was used to describe figures like ʿUmar ibn al-Khaṭṭāb and Prophet Mūsā (peace be upon him), who was described in the hadith of al-Isrāʾ as “dark and brown-skinned.” Other narrations describe Adam as tall, bald, and brown-skinned, while some say he was extremely fair with a reddish hue.
