How can a person be elevated by a million ranks in Paradise, when Paradise has only one hundred ranks?

Several hadith mention that Paradise has degrees, among them the hadith of the Companion of the Qur’an, who ascends through his recitation, and the hadith of congregational prayer, which raises degrees and expiates sins, and the hadith of abundant prostration, which raises degrees, and the hadith of invoking blessings upon the Prophet, which raises degrees. Some scholars believe that "degree" in these hadith may mean a good deed (hasanah) and an increase in reward, and not necessarily a specific degree of Paradise whose number is debated.

As for the hadith that mentions that Paradise has one hundred degrees prepared by Allah for the mujahideen (strugglers in Allah's cause), it does not indicate that the degrees of Paradise are limited to this number. This might be specific to the mujahideen only, or the intention could be to signify abundance, or that each inhabitant of Paradise has one hundred degrees. The more probable interpretation is that these one hundred degrees are specifically for the mujahideen, and this does not negate the existence of other degrees for others, and that the number of degrees in Paradise is not confined to a specific number, or that it corresponds to the number of verses in the Qur’an.
