"Obedience to the mother is not obligatory in her command to divorce a righteous and upright wife. The preponderant opinion is that it is not incumbent to obey parents in divorcing one's wife without a valid legal reason. You must be wise and pursue another way to satisfy your mother and persuade her to visit you without divorcing your wife. If she does not agree to visit, then leave her be, while ensuring to honor her and treat her kindly. It is not permissible to seek to separate a husband and wife without a legitimate reason; otherwise, that would be a forbidden act of instigation."
