How is Allah uniquely characterized by the attribute of "The Last" while Paradise and Hellfire endure, and is their endurance by His sustenance, and what is the rational response to the annihilation of Paradise and Hellfire, and will the inhabitants of both abodes abide eternally?

Allah Almighty is the Last, after whom there is nothing. The permanence of Paradise and Hell, and the eternity of their inhabitants, does not contradict this, because their permanence is by Allah's preservation of them, not by their own essence. The claim of their annihilation is false, and no one among the Salaf preceded its proponent in making such a statement. The eternity of the people of Paradise and Hell is justice, because Allah does not wrong people in the least. The eternity of the people of Hell is due to their wisdom in spending their lives fighting against Allah, and the eternity of the people of Paradise is in fulfillment of Allah's promise to them.
