What is the authenticity of the account of Ammar ibn Yasir (may Allah be pleased with him) fighting Satan?

Some hadiths narrate that the Companion Ammar ibn Yasir fought against jinn and humans. One circulating narration, which has a broken and weak chain of transmission, states that while Ammar was fetching water for the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and his Companions, a devil intercepted him. Ammar wrestled him three times until he was able to fetch the water. Al-Hafiz Ibn Hajar clarified that Ammar did not literally fight jinn, but rather the intent was that he always chose the more guided of two options. He was described as being filled with faith "to his very marrow," which means he was protected from Satan.
