Is purchasing virtual players in electronic games—where the player pays a fixed amount to obtain a random number of players of varying strengths—considered a gharar sale?

There is no harm in purchasing a player for abilities that enhance the enjoyment of the game, provided that the necessary Sharia controls for the permissibility of playing computer games are met. However, purchasing players with real money while being ignorant of the player's specifications may lead to gharar (uncertainty/deception), gambling, extravagance, and squandering, and this is not permissible.
