Does the epithet "maftoon" in Arabic mean "one who has been afflicted by fitna (temptation/strife)"? And should it be replaced if that is the case?

The name "Maftun" is not a kunya (agnomen) but rather a given name or a title. It is from the Sunnah to change an ugly name to a beautiful one. "Maftun" is not among the good names; in fact, it is disliked, and one should avoid naming with it and change it, because the word "fitna" (temptation/strife) and its derivations are not suitable for names, titles, or kunyas, as they denote negative meanings such as injustice, misguidance, disbelief, and torment.
