It is not legislated to abandon one's wife if it will lead to corruption, such as her being tempted or falling into forbidden acts, or if it will not yield any benefit. Instead, the husband should seek other means of reform, such as admonition and kind words. Abandonment is legislated if its benefit in removing evil outweighs its harm; otherwise, reconciliation is more beneficial than abandonment.
