Is it obligatory to move the grandfather of the husband, who died due to war and was buried beside his house—because it was impossible to bury him in the cemetery at that time—to the cemetery after twelve years have passed?

The remains of a deceased person buried alone should not be moved unless their burial place infringes upon someone else's rights. Nevertheless, it is preferable to move them to a Muslim graveyard to prevent desecration, or to avoid ignorant people believing the deceased to be a righteous saint, which could lead to fitna (discord) and circumambulation of their grave. Sheikh Ibn 'Uthaymeen supported this view, explaining that exhumation and relocation are not necessary unless urban development reaches the location. However, it is better to move the deceased to a graveyard even if a long time has passed.
