What is the ruling on participating in a "running marathon" organized by a Christian mother to honor a deceased Christian relative, where participating teams win monetary prizes?

Whoever dies upon disbelief, such as Christianity or Judaism, is an inhabitant of Hellfire, and their deeds are null and void, bringing them no benefit in the Hereafter. Organizing a running marathon to honor a deceased disbeliever is an innovation (bid'ah) that has no basis in Islam and does not benefit the deceased disbeliever. Islam encourages praising the deceased Muslim, supplicating for them, seeking forgiveness for them, and giving charity on their behalf. Competitions are of various types: some are forbidden, and some are permissible with or without a prize. It is not permissible to participate in honoring a deceased disbeliever or commemorating their memory.
