Is a mother entitled to prevent her son from marrying a righteous girl whom he loves due to disagreements between her and the girl's family, and should the son divorce his wife to please his mother after he has married her?

It is not permissible for a man to divorce his wife due to his mother's request; rather, he must honor his mother without divorcing his wife being part of this honoring. He should keep his wife and treat his mother well, seeking the help of those whom his mother trusts to persuade her, and the wife should treat her mother-in-law well. The son should also turn to Allah Almighty to reconcile his mother's heart with his own.
