If a mother endeavors to prevent her daughter from marrying, and then to divorce her without justification, she is an oppressor and has committed a great sin, for separating a husband and wife is a heinous evil. Nevertheless, it is incumbent upon the daughter to continually honor her mother, for she has a great right, and Allah has commanded to accompany parents with kindness, even if they are polytheists.
