What is the ruling on supplicating with the words: "O Allah, I ask You by the right of Your verse," or "by the right of Your saying upon the tongue of Your Prophet," or "by the light of Your Face," or "by the right of Your promise to answer"?

Supplication is an act of worship based on divine injunction. Among the permissible forms of supplication is interceding with Allah through His beautiful names, His sublime attributes, and one's own righteous deeds. Therefore, whoever asks Allah by an ayah from His Book, or by His saying on the tongue of His Prophet, or by His attribute of being the Answerer of prayers, has asked Him by one of His attributes, and that is permissible. Among the permissible supplications narrated from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, are: "O Allah, I seek refuge in Your might, there is no god but You, lest You lead me astray. You are the Ever-Living who never dies, while jinn and humans die," and "I seek refuge in Allah, the Most Great, and in His Noble Face, and His Eternal Authority from the accursed Shaytan," and "O Allah, by Your knowledge of the unseen and Your power over creation," and "O Allah, we ask You by virtue of Your being the One, the Unique," and "O Allah, I ask You by the right of those who ask You," and "I ask You by the light of Your Face, which illuminates the heavens and the earth." These supplications and similar ones are permissible because they involve asking by the words of Allah or by one of His attributes.
