According to the opinion of those who hold that congregational prayer in the mosque is a communal obligation (fard kifaya), is the sin lifted from the people of the village if the Imam prays with only one man, or with two of his sons, one of whom is disabled and the other an infant, knowing that the Imam is not from the village? Is it permissible for the Imam to go to the people of the village to lead them in congregational prayer in one of their homes, and what is the ruling on both the Imam and the people of the village in this case?

According to the view that congregational prayer in the mosque is fard kifayah (a collective obligation), it is fulfilled for the people of the village by two individuals praying in the mosque: the Imam and one ma'mum (follower). As for the insane person and the immature child who lacks discernment, the congregation is not established by them, because they are not among those who are capable of prayer. As for the regular Imam for whom no one comes to pray with, he prays alone in the mosque and does not go to search for a congregation elsewhere, and he will receive the reward of congregational prayer.
