Is it permissible to say, "I am fulfilling an obligation" when going to the mosque, or fasting, or giving zakat, and so forth?

If the one who says this phrase intends thereby that he is going to fulfill the obligatory duty with which he is charged, and to free himself from its responsibility, then there is no harm in this, and there is nothing objectionable in this general statement.
