Do borrowed money and gifts from a person who deals in usury affect the recipient, and what is the way to purify them?

If a debtor possesses only unlawful wealth, then borrowing from him is forbidden, as is accepting his gift. However, if his wealth is mixed, then borrowing from him and accepting his gift is disliked, unless the transaction is specifically related to the unlawful wealth, in which case it becomes forbidden. Calamities may occur due to consuming unlawful wealth, because sins are a cause for making affairs difficult and disturbing one's livelihood. Allah Almighty says: "And whatever strikes you of disaster - it is because of what your hands have earned, and He pardons much." (Quran 42:30). It is obligatory to offer sincere repentance and refrain from sins, for every affliction is caused by sins. Allah Almighty says: "Corruption has appeared on land and sea by [reason of] what the hands of people have earned so that He may let them taste part of [the consequence of] what they have done that perhaps they will return." (Quran 30:41). Repentance, seeking forgiveness, and fearing Allah are causes for facilitating affairs and rectifying conditions, as Allah Almighty says, through the words of Noah: "And said, 'Ask forgiveness of your Lord. Indeed, He is ever Forgiving. He will send [rain from] the sky upon you in [copious] showers and give you increase in wealth and children and make for you gardens and make for you rivers.'" (Quran 71:10-12), and He said: "And whoever fears Allah - He will make for him ease in his affair." (Quran 65:4). This man should be advised, commanded to do good, forbidden from evil, and one should refrain from accepting anything from him in the future.
