Abortion is not permissible unless there is a credible medical report indicating a fear of the mother's demise, or if the fetus is deceased. Repentance and seeking forgiveness for what has occurred are obligatory. The blood money for the fetus is a "ghurrah" (a male or female slave); if unavailable, then it is one-tenth of the mother's blood money. This is taken by the heirs of the deceased, and the mother who caused the death receives nothing. The father does not inherit if he forced the mother to abort; he inherits if his instruction was merely an indication or a command.
