Which is better for a young man who has memorized ten parts of the Qur’an: performing Tarawih prayer in the Grand Mosque (Masjid al-Haram) or leading people in prayer?

If the Imam is appointed to a mosque, he is obligated to fulfill the duty of Imamate and is not permitted to absent himself except for a valid excuse. He should not leave his mosque to pray in another, even if it is the Sacred Mosque (Masjid al-Haram), unless someone acceptable to the mosque's congregation and approved by the responsible authorities takes his place. This is because an obligatory duty cannot be abandoned for the sake of performing a Sunnah (recommended act).

However, if the Imam is a volunteer and there is someone to take his place, it is better for him to pray in the Sacred Mosque due to the immense reward. Ibn Baz mentioned that praying in the Sacred Mosque near the Kaaba is superior due to the large congregation, its proximity to the Kaaba, and the certainty of multiplied reward.
