What is the expiation for involuntary manslaughter, is it obligatory in the event of reconciliation, and what is the punishment from the Lord of the Worlds for it?

Accidental killing entails two obligations: the payment of blood money (Diyya) by the killer's 'aqila (male relatives on the father's side), and the expiation (Kaffara) by the killer. There is no sin in it, as Allah Almighty says: "And there is no blame upon you for that in which you have erred, but [only for] what your hearts intended."

If the deceased's family pardons the blood money, the expiation remains obligatory. This expiation is fasting for two consecutive months when freeing a slave is not possible. The pardon of the blood money does not waive the expiation, because it is a right due to Allah Almighty. Furthermore, according to the majority of scholars, the expiation for killing does not involve feeding sixty needy persons.
