Is it true that it is not permissible to fast on Saturday except during Ramadan?

Scholars have differed regarding fasting on Saturday. Some have permitted it absolutely, while others have disliked singling it out for fasting unless one fasts the day before or the day after it as well. This latter view is the most accurate.
