Is it true that performing good deeds expiates sins, and that one good deed, being tenfold its like, expiates ten sins?

Performing good deeds erases bad ones, as Allah Almighty says: "Indeed, good deeds do away with ill deeds," and the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "And follow up a bad deed with a good one, it will wipe it out." This applies specifically to minor sins. As for major sins, they require sincere repentance. A bad deed related to the rights of human beings necessitates seeking their forgiveness or restoring their rights. One should remain fearful and apprehensive of their sins, and not be deluded into thinking that a good deed will erase a bad one, as the acceptance of righteous deeds is not guaranteed. There is no evidence that a good deed erases ten bad deeds, even though a good deed is rewarded tenfold.
