The Sunnah regarding pubic hair is shaving it. Allowing it to grow long is contrary to the Sunnah, as is trimming it in a specific way or dyeing it. It is recommended to shave it whenever needed, even if before forty days, and it is recommended every week. Leaving it for more than forty days is disliked (makrooh), and some scholars may consider it forbidden (haram). If a husband orders his wife to shave it, the more correct opinion is that it is obligatory, especially if it becomes excessive to the point of being repulsive.
