Is it permissible for a doctor to take money resulting from his participation in a research study for a pharmaceutical company, knowing that the company stipulated that the participant be a doctor working in a university hospital, and that his data were submitted as such, contrary to reality?

Firstly: There is no harm in cooperating with the organization's representative and answering his questions, provided that the interview does not take a long time that distracts you from the patients or your official work. Otherwise, it would be forbidden.

Secondly: The reward is not permissible for you if it is based on a description that does not apply to you. You are obligated to refuse to accept it or return it if it comes to you, as Allah Almighty says: ﴿And do not consume your properties among yourselves through falsehood﴾. It is not permissible to respond to an invitation to lie.

Thirdly: If you know that participating in the research has a remuneration, it is not permissible to do so during working hours, because the time of a private employee is entirely for their employer. If you work for another entity during working hours and receive money, you must return it to the organization. If that is not possible, spend it on the patients in the hospital where you work.
