What is the role of the husband towards his wife who refuses to maintain ties of kinship, and towards his sister and father, knowing that his sister is beloved by everyone while his wife is undesirable?

Allah Almighty commanded the maintenance of kinship ties, and this is among the matters whose extent or nature the Lawgiver did not specify; thus, reference is made to common practice ( 'urf ) in this regard. The friend should maintain ties with his family and exert his utmost effort in doing so. In the event of disputes between his wife and his family, he must be just between them: he should command his wife to maintain ties with his relatives within the limits of শরী'আহ guidelines, and he should encourage his family to treat his wife kindly and prevent them from harming her. He should be wise in addressing problems: if excessive interaction is a cause of problems, he should reduce it; and if estrangement and isolation are the cause, he should increase communication.
