Who is the origin of connection in life, the father or the mother?

Man is created from the water of both man and woman, as Allah Almighty says: "So let man observe from what he was created. He was created from a gushing fluid Issuing from between the backbone and the ribs." Some early scholars held that the fetus is formed solely from the man's water, but the correct view is that it is from the water of both man and woman; this is based on this verse, which does not admit of interpretation, and because a woman emits fluid just as a man does. This is also what modern science has unanimously affirmed.
