Is what the husband’s brother did—taking the contents of his apartment and placing them in a shop without his wife’s knowledge—as a punishment for her betrayal—permissible or impermissible? A husband must think well of his wife and not think ill of her without evidence. If the accusation against the wife is true, it is best to advise her and call her to repentance before divorce, in order to preserve the family, especially if there are children. It is not permissible for the husband to dispose of his wife’s property without her permission, and hiding her belongings from her is not permissible. Whoever knows of this and permits him is sinful for cooperating in sin and aggression. The husband is advised to seek reconciliation with his wife, or else to separate amicably.
