The answer

The marital relationship should be built on affection and respect, fulfilling rights and overlooking shortcomings. We advise patience with the wife and reminding her of the seriousness of insulting and cursing her husband, as it is a sin and an act of disobedience (nushuz) that warrants disciplinary action. Accusing the husband or anyone else of adultery and theft is a grave major sin if there is no proof for it, and her family should refrain from that. Hiding what is bought with private money to avoid her hostility is permissible and may even be wise.
